Alright, so this song doesn’t rock’n’roll like a lot of the song I tend to write about. So you know that there has to be something very exceptional about the song to take it into our little den of iniquity. However much like a lot of the early 70’s rockers who adopted a softer country and folk style of playing (i.e. Neil Young) Joanna doesn’t need to blast your ear drums out to knock you on the floor with a natural and comforting voice. It has the power of gospel without being overtly religious, and a sly subtly that could belay fiery protest, all in a tender package that stays in your head for days.
